1. Who can volunteer at St. Louis Kannada School?

Anyone with a passion for Kannada language, culture, and community is welcome! At this time, we are seeking only adult volunteers who are interested in supporting our programs. You do not need prior teaching experience — enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to learn are what matter most.

2. What volunteer roles are available?

We currently welcome volunteers in the following roles:

Teacher
Assistant Teacher
Classroom Support / Activity Help
Cultural Event Support

3. Do I need to be fluent in Kannada to volunteer as a teacher?

Fluency is helpful for lead teachers, but not mandatory for assistant teachers. A good understanding of Kannada and a desire to support children’s learning is sufficient for many roles.

4. How much time commitment is expected?

Most classes meet once a week during the school session. Time commitment varies by role, but we strive to keep it flexible and respectful of personal schedules.

5. Will training or guidance be provided?

Yes! Volunteers receive:

Curriculum guidance
Teaching resources
Ongoing support from coordinators and experienced teachers

You’ll never be expected to do this alone.

6. Can parents volunteer while their child is enrolled?

Absolutely! Many of our volunteers are parents. It’s a wonderful way to stay connected with your child’s learning journey.

7. How do I sign up to volunteer?

To get started, simply complete the Volunteer Interest Form. Our team will contact you to discuss next steps and suitable opportunities.

8. Is this a paid position?

Volunteer roles are unpaid, but incredibly rewarding.
